On August 27, 2024, the Giant Magellan Telescope hosted a celebratory event at Ingersoll Machine Tools in Rockford, Illinois to mark the start of assembling the telescope’s mount structure. It was an inspiring day filled with tours, talks, and excitement as industry partners, congressional leaders, Giant Magellan Telescope Founders and supporters, and the Chilean Embassy celebrated this significant milestone together.
